Blade front and "R" marked Buffington rear sights, with the rear of the barrel marked "A" on top and "V / P / eagle head" on the upper left. Low-arch breechblock, marked "US / MODEL / 1884", with the eagle/shield motif next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" on the lock plate. Smooth straight grip stock, with two "U" marked barrel bands, faint 1889 cartouche and a "U.S." marked buttplate. With cleaning rod.

Condition: Very fine with 75% faded original blue finish mixed with areas of brown patina, concentrated around the muzzle and edges, along with mild handling marks. Breechblock shows a mixed brown color on top, with bright case colors on the underside. Stock is fine, with an overcoat of linseed oil, a small amount of scratches and varnish loss cartouche is enhanced. Mechanically excellent.
