This Model 1884 carbine correctly falls into the carbine serial number range (325000-480000). It features a Buffington rear sight, pinned blade front sight, breechblock marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1884", and buttplate with trapdoor. Saddle bar with ring is mounted on the left side of the stock. The barrel has the "V / P / eagle head" proofs (faint), "US" marked on the buttplate heel, and the lock plate marked "US / SPRINGFIELD" next to the U.S. eagle (faint). The left side of the stock has a "SWP / 1886" cartouche and a circled "P" in the grip area.

Condition: Good as arsenal refinished. The carbine retains 30% of the armory blue finish with the balance a smooth plum patina. The lock plate and trigger guard are mostly a gray patina. The breechblock and upper tang retain 30% of the case colors. There is some very scattered minor pitting. The refinished stock is good with a repaired chip near the lock plate, along with some minor dings and gouges. Mechanically excellent.
