U.S. Springfield Model 1879 trapdoor SRC, .45-70 cal., 22” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stock, #125247. This gun is in overall very good to fine condition showing approx. 20% muted original blue onbarrel primarily at the breech with balance gone to a brown patina; majority of muted blue finish remains on lock plate with sharp spread eagle, U.S. Springfield and 1873; majority of case color on trapdoor with crisp U.S. Model 1873 marking; breech of barrel shows V, P and eagle head proofs, action is crisp, bore is very good; stock is in overall very good to fine condition with sharp inspector’s cartouche on the left side abovethe trigger guard “SWP 1880”. A really nice ’79 from the Dr. Sterling Fenn collection. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
