U.S. Springfield Model 1873 trapdoor rifle, .45 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, full length wood stock, iron ramrod, sling swivels, #267585. This gun is in overall good condition showing a brown patina on the barrel, frame and lock plate with a couple hints of silvery case hardening on the trapdoor; overall fair + bore, good action and markings, fair + to good wood with visible circle “P” proof, 1892-dated rectangular inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger and “13 NY” stamped in approx. 1” figures on the right side of the butt stock, “84” in smaller numbers on the same side and further back toward the butt plate, and “B 34” stamped on the top of the butt stock. An interesting Trapdoor rifle that may be identifiable to a specific soldier through the services of Springfield Research. Est.: $600-$1,200.
