U.S. Springfield M1 Garand semi-auto rifle, 24” S.A. barrel dated 7-44, military finish, wood stock with sling swivels, interesting anchor and 8117 inscribed on top plate in front of rear sight, #3180069 which is also stamped on the underside of the butt stock. This gun is in overall good condition showing considerable military finish to metal surfaces, bore may clean to good, crisp action and markings, stock is dirty but should clean to good with scattered mars, scratches and dings from carry and storage; hand guard and front section appear better condition and later replacements; traces of a cartouche on the left side of the butt stock; should improve with a careful cleaning and oiling overall and some TLC; chamber should be examined by a gunsmith to confirm caliber as this gun is likely .30 caliber since there are no 7.62 NATO markings on the barrel or elsewhere indicating conversion for the Navy but above-noted naval marking cautions the extra examination.
