U.S. Springfield Joslyn Breech-loading cartridge rifle, .50 cal., 35-1/2” barrel, bright finish, wood stock, sling swivels, iron cleaning rod, 1864 dated U.S. Springfield lockplate, #M1878. This scarce Civil War era gun (approx. 3,000 manufactured circa January to June, 1865) is in overall very good condition showing a bright barrel and barrel bands, dark patina on receiver and lockplate, fine bore, crisp action and very good wood with some scattered staining, nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage and a good inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger group.
