U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1871 Rolling Block Rifle with Bayonet
Manufactured from 1871 to 1872. Fixed front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards and leather sling. Left side of receiver marked "MODEL 1871", with "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD/ 1872" on the reverse. The upper tang has the two line Remington patent dates. The stock wrist has a script "ESA" cartouche, with a "JCA" inscribed on the buttstock (left side). Complete with bayonet marked with the number "58" on the socket.

Condition: Very good. The barrel has a smooth dark brown patina, with a dark mottled patina on the frame. There is some minor spotting, with some minor pitting (mostly on the buttplate). The freshened wood is fine with a filled repair on the forearm (right side), some scattered minor gouges, and some minor dings and scratches. The bayonet is very good with a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting.
