U.S. Simeon North Model 1816 Flintlock Pistol
Manufactured from 1817 to 1820 with a total production of about 19,374. The lock plate is marked with the later type marking: "S. NORTH ( faint in a downward arch) / U eagle shield motif S / MIDLTN CONN. (in an upward arch)", there is a number "3" marked at the breech end of the barrel above the touch hole, the left rear of the barrel is marked "P / US" and there is a small "C" stamped on some parts. Brass blade front sight on the barrel band, brass flash pan without a fence and the remaining mountings are iron. The stock extends about 1/2" ahead of the barrel band and the iron backstrap extends from the barrel to the buttcap. There is a oval "LS" cartouche on the left stock flat. Complete with an original hickory ramrod with a swelled tip and threaded iron ferrule for cleaning and ball removal on the opposite end.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a mottled silver gray patina with some minor pitting on each end of the barrel and on the lock and hammer. The stock is also very good with a couple of minor cracks extending from a ding on the lower left grip area, and a few minor chips and dents. Unless noted above, the markings are clear. The action is very good.
