The lock and barrel are dated "1863". The lock has the "eagle/U.S." motif and "SAVAGE R.G.A. Co./MIDDLETOWN, CT." stamped ahead of the hammer. Barrel has "V/P/eagle head" proofs on the rear left side. Stock has three barrel bands, a buttplate marked "25" on the tang and a small letter "N" stamped behind the trigger guard. With a "US" marked bayonet with scabbard.

Condition: Fair as altered/assembled. The rifle-musket has a bright appearance with some minor pitting. The barrel has been cut completely through at the bolster and has a couple areas of tool marks with the front portion of barrel being from another gun. The stock is very good with a number of minor handling marks and a shallow cut behind the trigger guard. Bayonet is very good and scabbard is good.
