Brass blade front and notch rear sights, with "U.S./A.D.K./P" on the upper left of the barrel, "STEEL" on the left flat. A lug for a sabre bayonet is installed on the right side, 3 3/4 inches back from the muzzle. The lock plate is marked "U.S./1850" behind the hammer, and "REMINGTON'S/HERKIMER/N.Y." ahead. Smooth stock, with 2 brass barrel bands, trumpet headed ramrod, a pair of oval cartouches on the left side, brass patch box with spare nipple, and a brass U.S. buttplate. With a wooden tampion, brown leather sling, and a brass hilted sabre bayonet with 25 1/2 inch yataghan blade.

Condition: Fair as refinished, with a mixed artificial brown patina on the steel surfaces, along with scattered pitting. The front barrel band and rear trigger guard finial have been repaired. Stock is fair, with a mended chip and cracks around the trigger guard. Bayonet is pitted, and the sling shows cracks and flakes. Mechanically fine.
