Dated 1857 on barrel tang and lock plate, tang also has a double stamped "2", with standard Remington lock plate markings. "LS/P" and "N.J" on the breech end of the barrel. Equipped with a Maynard priming device, bayonet lug on top of barrel, front sight integral to front double barrel band, and no rear sight. Three barrel bands with unreadable oval cartouche on left stock flat, and a small "G" and "8" ahead of the buttplate tang and "US" marked buttplate tang. Complete with an iron button head ramrod.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a bright appearance with some minor oxidation on the buttplate. The stock is good with an old repair in the upper rear lock area, a large chip at the rear of the lock and a splintered crack at the lower rear. Otherwise there are extensive scattered minor dents, dings and scratches overall. The stock remains solid. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
