This is an example of one of only 200 Model 1842 pistols manufactured by Deringer for the U.S. Navy with rifle bore. This historically significant in that this model represents the first sidearm made for the U.S. military with a rifled bore. This pistol has no inspector marks. The lock is marked "US/DERINGER/PHILADEL". The barrel band, trigger guard and buttplate are brass. It has a button head swivel steel ramrod and mounted with a smooth stock. Front and rear rifle style sights.

Condition: Good as partially refnished (stock). All metal surfaces have a bright appearance showing some minor pitting. The refinished, repaired stock is good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
