Blade front and folding ladder 1000-yard rear sights, with "9225" on the tang, "F.C.W' on the left flat, "V/P/eagle head" on the upper left, and "63 (anchor)" on top of the chamber. The lock is marked "1864" behind the hammer, "eagle/U.S." and "WHITNEY-VILLE" ahead. Smooth stock, with 2 barrel bands, flared-head ramrod, finger rest trigger guard, and a smooth "US" marked buttplate. With a wooden tampion and a brass hilted Collins & Co (Hartford, Conn) bayonet, (number 4922), 22 1/2 inch blade, leather sheath with brass throat and tip.

Condition: Good, showing a dark brown patina on most components, with pitting and numerous handling marks. Stock is very good, with a faint cartouche, well defined stock flats, and some light dings overall. A sliver of wood is absent along top barrel tang. Blade is very good, with minor wear, cracking of the leather. Mechanically fine.
