U.S. Model 1841 Robbins & Lawrence Mississippi Percussion Rifle

Manufactured by Robbins & Lawrence from 1848 to 1853 in Windsor, VT and also known as the "Mississippi Rifle". The lock is marked "WINDSOR VT/1848" vertically behind the hammer and "ROBBINS/&/LAWRENCE/U.S." in front of the hammer. The bolster is stamped with a large period "LS". The upper left side of the barrel at the breech is marked "US/JPC/P", the left flat is marked with a "K" and the barrel tang is dated "1848". There is a small "G" on the left side plate, side of the hammer and lower tang ahead of the trigger guard. Brass blade front and "v" notch fixed rear sights, brass mountings with a sling swivel on the front barrel band and front of the trigger guard, the barrel was brown with a casehardened lock and mounted with a full walnut straight grip stock with patch box and "US" marked on the buttplate tang. Complete with an original iron ramrod with brass tip.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled silver gray patina with a small amount of flash pitting on the breech end of the barrel. The brass has a mellow aged patina. The stock has been lightly sanded and varnished some time ago and remains good with scattered minor dings and dents. The cartouche is very faint. The markings have been highlighted in white and remain crisp and clear. The action is fine.
