Very good as reconverted to flintlock. The barrel and lock plate have an attractive brown patina. The surfaces of the barrel, lock and buttplate are generally smooth with some minor flash pitting on the barrel surrounding the flash hole and the hammer. The markings on the lock plate and breech are sharp. The barrel bands, side plate and patch box have a smooth gray-brown patina. The stock is very good with sharp edges and light to moderate handling wear. The Ordnance inspection cartouche on the left stock flat is crisp. The rifle appears to have been converted to percussion during the period of use and expertly reconverted to the original flintlock configuration. This is a fine looking example of a key 19th Century U.S. martial arm.
