U.S. Model 1816 dated Springfield .69 caliber musket dated 1817 with North Carolina markings on the barrel. An original flintlock with the correct hammer, frizzen and small parts, heavy and dark patina withscattered light to moderate pitting. The lock markings are visible but slightly light. The proofs and North Carolina markings are discernable and an extra hole has been drilled 5” down the barrel on the left side(reason unknown-Dewat?). The ramrod is period replaced. The stock shows breaks, old repairs and cracks and is in fair to poor condition. A secondary Confederate Civil War musket last sold in the Fred Slaytoncollection according to the consignor.
