U.S. Model 1808 Navy issue flintlock pistol by S. North of Berlin, Conn. in .64 caliber with 10 1/8” round barrel and 16 ¼” overall remaining in very good condition (refer Flayderman 6A – 009). The metal surfaces show a light polish or cleaning toarsenal bright with some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion with the heavier pitting appearing in a few small areas on the barrel and tang. The lock is well marked with a good clear Eagle and remains in its originalflintlock configuration with correct hammer and parts. The stock is good showing a well-done restoration in front of the ramrod thimbles where there was a break. A correct style belt hook is retained with an upside down number 2 that isspring steel and may be original. The brass mounts show a good patina and a correct style wood ramrod is included.. An above average example of the 1808 North Navy of which only 3000 were produced and many lost in the war of 1812. Thecollection of William A. Gary consigned by his estate. Est.: $4000-$8000
