U.S. Model 1803 Harpers Ferry rifle dated 1819 in .54 caliber remaining in good condition showing excellent reconversion back to flintlock. The barrel shows light to heavy scattered pitting and erosion. The lock shows some cleaning and is aging back nicely. The reconversion is difficult to detect as the hammer is made almost perfectly and the work is done well. The stock is in good to very good condition with some small losses around the tang, minor scratches and just light normalaging. The brass mounts show a good patina. A correct style ramrod is included. The area just beneath the lock shows the addition of a screw behind the trigger which may have been used on the sear as a form of homemade set trigger. The rifle shows a 36” barrel with a 30 ½” stock. Refer Flayderman 9A-115. William A. Gary collection consigned by his estate. Est.: $2000-$4000
