U. S. Mississippi rifle by Whitney of New Haven dated 1854 on lock, bored out to .58 cal., with 2-leaf long range rear sight added, and ring on barrel on which to affix saber bayonet. This Mississippi wasconverted for Civil War use. The rifle remains in good to very good condition with a brown patina finish on barrel and some original brown mixed in. The lock shows traces of case hardening within a patina,there is some scattered erosion and pitting, mostly at the breech. The stock is good with some light cleaning, traces of cartouche on left side by sideplate and center of rear butt stock. There are some small losses onthe edges and around the lock; the stock is generally good overall. The action is good, the markings are good, bore good, original style ramrod is included. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
