U.S. Militia Officers sword with Roman helmet pommel and star at center of cross guard with fluted bone carved grip and engraved brass scabbard. Blade engraved Ames Mfg Co., Chicopee, Mass. Nicely etched in floraldesign with U.S. and eagle at center. The scabbard is also floral engraved and shows a small panel of shield with wreaths. The sword remains in very good condition with some light pitting on the blade and at least 75%of its etching and polish. The grip is very good with small chips, minor cracks. Mounts show about 50% gold drifting to natural patina. Est.; $1,000-2,000
