Approximately 23,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s, most of them for the U.S. government. The frame is marked "STARR. ARMS. Co. NEW. YORK." on the left side and "STARRS PATENT JAN. 15, 1856." on the right side. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, standard quick-release thumbscrew on the frame and a double action trigger with moving block. Matching numbers on the barrel lug, frame, hammer and cylinder. Small single letter inspection marks are present. The grip has a set of legible cartouches on the right side with one cartouche on the left side.

Condition: Fine, with 40% of the faded original blue finish, strongest on the frame and in the protected areas of the cylinder with a brown patina on the balance, bright wear on the high edges and scattered dings and dents. Grips are fine with the exception of two small holes in the left side and some mild scuffs. Mechanically fine.
