As the assistant Chief of Staff of the 1st Marine Division of Korea, Bowser was instrumental in the "advance in another direction" from the Chosin Reservoir. For his actions in Korea he received a 2nd and 3rd Legion of Merit Medal with a Combat "V". Later, he would serve as Commanding General, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic. 2) Bausch & Lomb M7 binoculars, 7x50, marked "1942 F.J.A." below the makers mark on the right side, "BINOCULAR/M7/No. 8106" on the left. With a brown leather case, marked "CASE, CARRYING, M24" on the lid. Attributed by the consignor to Brigadier General Robert Schwolsky who became a Company Commander in the 43rd Infantry Division during the New Georgia Campaign.
