Manufactured by Henry Aston of Middletown, Connecticut, circa 1845 to 1852. The lock is marked "Middtn/CONN/1847" behind the hammer and "US/H.ASTON" ahead of the hammer. The top of the barrel at the breech is marked "US/JH/P" and with a later stamped "H.G.". The barrel tang is dated "1847". There is a small "P" stamped on the bolster, lower tang ahead of the trigger guard and barrel band extension. This pistol has the swivel button head ramrod. All mountings are brass and all the metal parts were armory bright, with the exception of the blue trigger. Brass blade front sight and mounted with a smooth walnut stock with two clear cartouches on the left flat (one "WAT" and the other "NWP").

Condition: Very good plus. The metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina. The brass has an aged patina. The stock is fair with some scattered minor dings and dents, with clear cartouches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
