The Model 1805 was manufactured circa 1806 to 1808 with a total production of about 4,096 pistols and only approximately 1,208 dated 1808. This model was the first military handgun manufactured by a national armory. The pistol has a 10 inch 54 caliber smooth bore barrel without sights and an iron bottom rib. The mountings are brass and it has a wooden ram rod with a swollen tip. The iron parts were finished bright. The lock plate is marked "HARPERS/FERRY/1808" vertically behind the hammer with the spread winged eagle over "US" in front of the hammer. The left rear of the barrel is marked with a recessed "US" and "eagle head P", and the number "1724". Mounted with a full walnut stock with "V/JL" on the left flat and stamped "MH" on the lower left grip area.

Condition: Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration. The metal surfaces have a gray patina with some moderate pitting on the barrel and on the ramrod pipe. The brass has a dark aged patina. The stock is very good with a few minor cracks, dents and dings and sharp edges on the flats. The markings are clear. The action is very good. More Information
