U.S. Harper’s Ferry percussion rifle, .54 cal., 33” barrel, brass mounting and patchbox, sling swivels, brass tipped iron ramrod, bayonet lug on right side of barrel at muzzle. This gun is in overall good tovery good condition showing an even brown patina on metal surfaces, markings on lockplate very good with 1848 date; left side of barrel at breech stamped “N.J.”; also proofed and A.W. inspected; crisp action,good bore, wood stock is overall good to very good with strong inspector’s cartouche on left side of stock above trigger, scattered old mars, scratches, etc.; a nice example of the famous “Mississippi” rifle.
