This is an example of a nicely restored Colt Single Action Army revolver originally manufactured in 1874. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address flanked by a crosses and the underside ahead of the cylinder pin is marked with the serial number and "PA". The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent date marking followed by "US". Matching serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder and back strap with a small inspectors "A" on the cylinder and trigger guard below the serial number. "Bull's-eye" ejector head, blade front and frame notch rear sights, casehardened frame and hammer, blue remaining parts and fitted with smooth one piece walnut grip with a sharp "OWA" cartouche on the lower left and an "A" on the bottom, right side. Complete with a John Kopec letter with his analysis of the revolver.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 45 Long Colt
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 1002
Condition: Professionally restored with nearly all of the blue bright case colors remaining. There is some thinning on the barrel, some light scratches and drag line on the cylinder, a couple scratches on the front of the trigger guard and overall some light handling marks. The barrel, grip and cylinder are modern manufacture with added grip and barrel markings. Kopec's opinion is that the "A" markings on the revolver are facsimiles and that all of the restoration was done in the last few years (letter dated 1994). The grip is excellent with a few minor dings and handling marks. All markings remain clear. The action is excellent. A nicely restored, very attractive Single Action Cavalry revolver.
