Manufactured in 1917, this pistol is one of 600 shipped to Springfield Armory on June 21, 1917. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address, with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" is marked on the right side of the slide. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the left side is marked with the circle "GHS" inspection mark of Major Gilbert H. Stewart. The barrel chamber is marked "45 ACP" and the rear of the slide is marked with the letter "H" above the firing pin. Fixed sights, lanyard ring on the heel, unmarked two tone magazine with lanyard loop on the bottom and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond around the screws.

Condition: Fine. The pistol retains 60% original blue finish. The slide has a smooth plum brown patina with scattered traces of the original blue finish, strongest in the protected areas. The back strap has a smooth mottled brownish patina and the grip safety is thinning. There is some minor spotting on the front strap. The grips are also good with some minor dings, dents and bruises, and showing some wear on the upper and lower edges. The markings are highlighted in white and remain clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
