Approximately 23,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s, most of them for the U.S. government. Standard "STARR. ARMS. Co. NEW. YORK." address on left side of frame "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. in the hammer well, front of the hammer and on the cylinder. There are small "K" inspection marks on some of the components. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip with a crisp cartouche on the lower left and right side. The pistol has matching serial numbers (6383) on the underside of the barrel, the frame (inside the hammer notch) the side of the cylinder and the underside of the top strap frame in front of the hinge.

Condition: Fine with 70% bright original blue finish remaining overall with the balance a brown patina. Some minor pitting and scratches along with minor edge and high area wear. Grips are period revarnished and remain fine with legible cartouches, some scratches and handling marks. Action is fine.
