U.S. Cavalry Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., barrel professionally restored to 7-1/2”, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #6200. This gun is in overall very good condition with #6200 on the frame, cylinder, trigger guard and backstrap; thetrigger guard also displays the Ainsworth “A” inspection initial as does the backstrap and cylinder with the cylinder also displaying a “P” proof mark. The grips are overall very good and show traces of inspector cartouches on each sidewith knackering on the butt and what appears to be an old re-finish to the wood; the action is tight and the markings are very good. The barrel shows the italicized address, is numbered 6200, although it appears on the right side of thebarrel at the breech just above the ejector rod housing; there also are “A” and “P” markings on the underside of the barrel in front of the cylinder pin. This revolver fall into Colt Lot #6 Cavalry SAAs (#s 5505-6515). They were inspectedat the Colt factory on Feb. 13, 1874 and received by the Springfield Armory on Feb. 17, 1874, with the issuing Arsenal designated by the Adjutant General being at Rock Island, Illinois.
