U.S. Army Training Kit for Identification, Handling and Disposal of Japanese Mines

Packed in a wood crate, this kit was designed for issue to Engineering units, in order to prepare men for the task of dealing with Japanese ordnance in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Even after the end of hostilities, unexploded ordnance was a real and present danger on any island claimed by the Japanese Empire, and the skills to dispose of them still in demand well after the war. Included with the kit are inert copies of the Type 93, magnetic, and "Yardstick" anti-tank mines, and the Type 97 hand grenade, along with appropriate inert fuze assemblies. The entire kit fits in a green painted wood case, marked "MINE TRAINING AID/SET NO. 2, JAPANESE" on the lid.
