Blade front and ladder rear sights, with "L.F.R." stamped on the left barrel flat. Casehardened receiver, with barrel release latch inside the trigger guard, "MANUFACTURED BY/AM'N.M'CH'N.WKS./SPRINGFIELD.MASS", "ADDRESS/POULTNEY & TRIMBLE./BALTIMORE. U.S.A.", and "SMITH'S PATENT/JUNE 23. 1857" on the left side near the saddle ring bar. Smooth forearm and straight grip walnut stock with a set of "LFR" and "JH" oval cartouches on the left side of the wrist and a steel buttplate. Also included is a group of three modern brass reloadable cartridges.

Condition: Very fine, with 60% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, edge wear and scattered spotting. Strong traces of case color are visible on the frame under the saddle ring and around the hammer, with a mixed gray color overall. Stock is excellent, with sharp cartouches, some light storage dings. Mechanically excellent.
