A) Dated 1848 on the lock plate , "US / H. ASTON" ahead of the hammer and "MIDDtn / CONN / 1848" vertically behind the hammer. Upper tang is dated "1848" with "US / SM / P" on the left side of the barrel at the breech. Brass fittings, with the barrel band connected to the reverse plate, two cartouches on the left side of stock and brass buttcap.

Condition: Refinished. The pistol retains most of the artificial brown finish and there some areas of minor pitting. The brass has a polished appearance. The stock is fine with some minor dings and scratches, with a minor dent on the left side near the band. The cartouches are clear. Mechanically fine.
