A) Manufactured by the Merrill Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company of Baltimore, Maryland from 1864 to 1869 with a total production of only about 800. The 41 caliber barrel tips downward for loading and has a manual extractor. The left side plate has the 1864 patent date. It has a blue barrel and silver plated brass frame with a unique checkered push button trigger and checkered grips.

Condition: Good. The derringer has a bright appearance showing some scattered light pitting on the barrel. The grips are very good with a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
- B) Left grip numbered to gun. An estimated 2,600 Never Miss 32 caliber deringers were manufactured.

Condition: Very good plus. The barrel retains 20% original blue finish with the balance a mottled gray patina with mild pitting. The frame retains traces of original silver plating in the protected areas with the exposed brass having an attractive patina. The grips are fine with a small missing chip on the left panel, high edge wear and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
