Two Russian Swords

1) Cossack-style shashka sword, 37 1/2 inches overall, with "E89k" and a few small Cyrillic stamps on the left ricasso of the 32 1/4 inch curved single fuller, single edged blade. A leather washer is attached to the hilt, properly without handguard, with a ribbed wood grip and brass fittings. 2) Caucasian-style kinjal sword, 27 3/4 inches overall with a 22 inch double edged blade, outfitted with offset single fullers and decorated on both sides with golden koftgari, chiefly in floral and vine patterns. Fitted with a pair of dark horn grip panels, with a pair of iron studs and a small heart shaped decorative plate on one side. With a hide wrapped sheath, fitted with an iron hanger and tip.

1) Fair, with some mild pitting on the blade, a deep, aged patina on the brass and a number of dents on the hilt. A triangle and an incomplete pentagon are carved into the left side of the hilt; the meaning of this marking is unknown. 2) Good. The blade shows a mixed aged patina, with strong gold and a few dings on the edges. The grips are slightly oversized for the tang, with a few scuffs and small cracks. Sheath is fair, with some tearing and scratches of the veneer.
