Two (2) Historic Bowie knives carried in Mexican-American war, One by Sgt. Louis H. Wunder, and the other captured by him from a Mexican combatant. (1) Sgt. Wunder’s knife is approximately 14 ¾” with 10” blade, made from anAmerican officer’s type sword, with simple grooved wood grip, brass guard and ferrule, with sword type pommel in handmade leather scabbard that is of the period with brass button type fastener in military fashion, blackened leather with painteddecoration; center portion is painted “Polk & Texas” with leaf borders. The knife is in good condition with slight to moderate pitting; scabbard is good to very good with some cracking, small losses and flaking to the leather, butgenerally good overall; there are some small chip around the pommel and slight cracks, some even wear and general use, but good to very good overall with a rich un-cleaned and untouched patina. (2) Bowie knife made from a cut down sword with grooved bone grip, blade shows “Republica” marking on the left side barely visible with foreign maker’s proof (probably Solingen), 12 ¼” with 8” blade reconfigured to a spear point shape, guard is reduced from D-type sword guard; with
