Tshinke style wheel lock rifle from Czechoslovakia region, circa mid 17th century with fully and ornately bone inlaid stock with pearl and dyed accents and nicely engraved hammer. The arm measures 48”overall with 36-1/2” barrel of approx 32 cal with rifled bore. The inlay shows dogs, florals, rabbits, scrolls, portrait of noble and a coat of arms on cheek piece with two angels in attendance. 90% of inlays areoriginal and 10% are restorations using a dyed composite material which is detectable but difficult to spot. There are some faint traces of gold in the engraved three panels on the barrel and the hammer is nicelyengraved. A bone tipped ram rod is included and a couple small inlays are missing. The metal is in good condition with a dark patina, minor pinprick pitting. A collection number or museum number 324 is stamped inthe stock by the front of trigger guard. The replaced inlays are acceptable for display but a sophisticated collector would replace them with shin bone from a cow which is what they were originally. From an old N.Y.
