Tranter 1862 .44 Cal Percussion Cap DA Revolver
Featured in this lot we have a Tranter Model 3 double action percussion cap revolver chambered in .44 caliber. This revolver was manufactured in 1862 by British weapon manufacturer Tranter with its serial number of 15190 falling in range of pistols shipped to the Confederate States during the American Civil War. This revolver displays a 5 1/4" long octagonal barrel, five shot cylinder, double action trigger system, checkered walnut grips, and percussion cap hammer. Tranter made a total of three models of this pistol design with the first showing a second action cocking trigger, with the second and third missing the priming trigger moving the design toward double action. The framed is marked on the left with "TRANTER PATENT" with the right side showing the serial number. The revolvers action shows working condition with the cylinder showing some sliding. The revolver shows good condition overall for its age with a warm patina across the exterior. Serial Number: 15190.
