Transition 1st to 2nd model Le Mat showing square back trigger guard, 1st model mainspring and barrel latch with no catch on loading lever which is mounted on the left side, serial number 680 pictured on page 126 of “Confederate Revolvers” by William A. Gary. The right side of the barrel shows “L M” and star proof. This revolver remains in very good plus condition showing strong traces of original blue mixed in with a light brown patina perhaps as much as 10% blue. The metalsurfaces are sharp and crisp with just some beginning light normal age. The loading lever, rod and plunger are all original and not restorations. The grips are very good with fairly crisp checkering and just some slight edge wear. The barrel address is sharp and crisp and the action functions well with original movable firing pin. An exceptional Le Mat that we would rate as a strong 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. The collection of William A. Gary consigned from his estate. Est.:$10,000-$20,000
