Tower Enfield percussion 1861 rifle with hand-hewn wood stock, Roman XII and 112 number marks; 2 barrel bands, saber bayonet lug, buff colored woven sling, in overall very good condition with un-cleaned dark patina, crisp action, goodmarkings and stock. Accompanied by a handwritten note from the consignor stating his opinion that this gun may have been sent without stocks and then stocked by a Confederate Armory. The note also states “This rifle and about 150 more of them were found in attic of old house that was being demolished in the right of way for Freeway a road worker came home with 2 of them and sold them to Shreveport gun dealer. I was lucky enough to obtain one. I have shot it and it has perfect bore & is very accurate”. (Antique). Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
