Thomasville Brighton Pavilion Bamboo Rattan Chairs
Offered in this lot are a pair of Thomasville Brighton Pavilion Bamboo Rattan Cane Chinoiserie Chairs, circa 1970s. A Brighton chair is six-legged Chinese Chippendale chair named for George IV's Chinoiserie fantasy Brighton Pavilion. They make great accents because they are both eclectic and classical. A timeless design featuring intricate inset geometric and foliate bamboo openwork on each side, and smooth down swept arms. The finish is known as "burnt bamboo" or "Tortoise Bamboo" which is a mixture of brown and black applied over the naturally golden tone of the then varnished bamboo, creating a luxurious and warm feel. The seat is trapezoidal and created with cane webbing. The set includes two removable seat cushions for easy upholstery if desired, or show off that gorgeous antique cane detail without the cushions. These chairs are sturdy, comfortable and are in amazing condition for their age. One chair seat caning 100% intact without sagging, other chair has small center area of damaged caning and sagging. Both chairs have stunning appearance. Thomasville/Atlas International label attached underneath. Measuring 23"W × 22.5"D × 37.25"H each and a total weight of 21lb approx.*
