The lot features an original Thomas Molesworth side table from the Hotel General Custer. The piece shows a typical Thomas Molesworth design with prominent western motif, bark on wood, and burl. Thomas C. Molesworth (1890-1977) was an American furniture designer who is credited with the creation of the “Western” style of furniture we now know today, also referred to as “cowboy furniture”. The table or end table was purchased directly from the Hotel General Custer in Billings, Montana at their sale in 1977. The top of the piece shows a pattern of concentric square bands with a solid block at the center, a truly artistic and well made piece. The table displays the iconic Western style of Molesworth that shows exceptional quality and craftsmanship. The piece is in good condition overall with minimal wear across the top. From the same collection as the Molesworth Table also from the Hotel Genral Custom that our company sold for $1,600 (with premiums) in our 6/18/2016 sale. The table measures 24 1/4" tall with 12 1/2" sides. The table is not marked and is attributed as being a Molesworth.
