The Alamo (1960) Santa Anna Gray Lancer Officers Costume
"The Alamo" (1960) was John Wayne's dream project. He finally was able to make it with his own company, Batjack in the late 1950's for release in 1960. He not only helped finance it, but produced it, directed it, and starred as Col. Davy Crockett. So loved was this American legend, that the best of the best in craftsmen, crew and actors came to his aid. This created one of the most realistic and authentic historical dramas ever produced. This is a grand example. General Santa Anna and the Mexican Army came sweeping across Texas. Their uniforms were stunning. This is an actual hero screen worn Mexican Army Gray Lancer uniform from the film. To make it complete some of the accessories have been reproduced at Western Costume and other sources based on Frank Beetson, Jr's, designs and sketches, and production photos. This includes a black leather repo bullet pouch with silver strap, silvery nylon repo belt with silver eagle buckle; gray tunic with green stand up collar and gray uniform Pants with green side stripes. It all comes with complete documentation and an official COA.
