The Alamo (1960) Santa Anna Blue Infantry Costume
Of all John Wayne's massive output , he has always said that his favorite project of all time was "The Alamo" (1960), which he helped finance through his Batjack production company, produced, directed, and of course starred in. Hollywood's best rallied around this American icon to help him create his vision and his dream. And it all showed on the screen, with details of sets, action, costumes, and of course a who's who of actors. Very little in the way of props and costumes remain from this classic. This is one of them. A hero screen worn full Blue Infantry Officers outfit from General Santa Anna's Mexican Army. It includes a Shako (a tall cylindrical military cap) with a pompom and a diamond and eagle/snake crest on the front; a tunic: a black leather cartridge box with white leather strap; a black leather bayonet scabbard with metal bayonet; a blue coat with blue collar and shoulder rolls; and gray uniform pants with draw string. This is a hero screen worn outfit but to make it complete some of the missing accessories have been painstakingly reproduced at Western Costume Company based on notes from costume designer Frank Beetson, Jr, as well as production stills. Comes with all documentation and an official COA.
