Texas made Dance revolver .44 caliber percussion with 8” barrel, serial number 2 with unique lever latch and combination front sight affixed to the muzzle pictured on page 69 “Confederate Revolvers” by William A. Gary. Another unusual feature ofthis dance is that it has no sighting groove on the hammer and there is a V notch sight mounted at the rear of the barrel to be used with the blade front sight. The revolver remains in good to very good original condition showing a patina finishwith some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion. The edges are fairly sharp and there are some nicks on the edges of the trigger guard on the left side. The bow of the trigger guard is slightly dented. The grips are good with some edge wear, dings, mars, scratches and just normal wear from use. The action works well and the gun is tight. All major component parts show the serial number 2. Any early percussions made in Texas is rare and the Dance revolver has always beendesirable. Estimates of production are under 350 with a very low survival rate of under 10% (Refer Flayderman 10-006). The collection of William A. Gary consigned by his estate. Est.: $35,000-$70,000
