SPORTING DELUXE O/U SHOTGUN WITH EXTRA BARRELS, AND TRIGGER GROUP. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# F0099 / F0100. The 28 & 29 3/4" monobloc O/U barrel sets are each fitted with matted ventilated ribs that are gold inlaid "I" and "II" at breech ends. Both barrel sets are engraved "Famars Italy" on left side of top barrel and monoblocs are stamped with 1997 Italian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4". 28" Barrel set "I" (SN F0099) have bottom barrel fitted for choke tubes and top barrel choked mod. 29 3/4" Barrel set "II" (SN F0100) has choke tubes top & bottom. Coin finished Famars "Excalibur" type action with removable trigger group is also fitted with ornamental sideplates. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage very nicely cut semi relief large acanthus scroll with some floral highlights on sideplates. Rear portion of this scroll emanates from the mouth of stylized dragons. Large scrolls on bottom of action terminate in the busts of lovely ladies with floral accent between. "FAMARS" is on shield like device behind forend iron mortice. A gold sovereign's crown is inlaid on top lever. Engraver's signature "C. Tomasoni" is on right side of lock mortice. Extreme pistol grip buttstock of exhibition quality burl figured European walnut measures 14 3/4" over thin black "Decelerator" pad. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip which has right hand palm swell. Near fully checkered slim field type forend with Anson type release services both barrel sets. MEASUREMENTS WITH BARREL SET II: STOCK: DAH: 1 7/8". DAC: 1 3/8". LOP: 14 3/4". CAST: approx. 3/8" off. WEIGHT: 8 lb. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes in brown leather trimmed "Famars" plastic case with outer cover. Interior is lined in green velvet and has compartment for both barrel sets in lid. Divider has black leather "Famars" label. Case contains stock removal tool, one Briley series 1 choke tube with wrench and a spare firing mechanism in plastic case. CONDITION: fine as lightly refurbished, barrels retaining nearly all of a good quality reblack with some minor subsequent marks. Coin finish of action shows evidence of some very light cleaning, engraving remains sharp. What appears to be newer buttstock retains essentially all of its original oil finish, checkering still light in color. Forend shows refinish to match. Checkering with some wear and cleaning. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanically fine. Case interior shows considerable wear, from lining is disintegration. Case cover shows mild water staining. (22-4471/MGM). MODERN. $9,000-14,000.
