Sultan’s quality mid-eastern dagger of Turkish origin with fine Damascus steel blade ornately gold inlaid showing Jade grip inlaid with jewel and hand hammered silver scabbard circa 18th to 19th century. The dagger measures 13 ½” overall with 9” piercing blade. The blade is finally worked and made with decorative gold accents inlaid into the fluting at the rear portion of the blade. The forward portion of the blade on the right side shows a long Arabic inscription in gold with a makers cartouche also gold inlaid. The top edge of the blade shows a reinforcement of the spine and the quality of the metal work and the Damascus pattern are excellent and probably made in a royal workshop by a master maker. The sheath is very finely worked in silver and resembles the work on the Yatagan swords with floral and mid-eastern buildings showing crescent moon facing left which is a typical Turkish design. The condition is fine to excellent and we consider this one of the premium mid-eastern weapons we have seen offered for sale this decade as it is finest quality and unique in design. Est.: $12,500- $25,000.
