This is an excellent example of a deluxe Third Model Winchester 1873 Rifle that was manufactured in 1883. The rifle has a blue barrel, dust cover and loading gate. The forearm cap, receiver, hammer, lever and crescent buttplate have a color casehardened finish. The pistol grip stock and forearm are highly figured fancy grain walnut with "Style H" checkering and high polish piano finish. The Third Model receiver has an integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated edges. The upper receiver tang is factory drilled and tapped. The rifle has a full octagon barrel with half magazine. The barrel is fitted with a beach folding combination front sight and a folding adjustable leaf rear sight graduated to 300 yards ("30"). The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN.CT./KING"S -IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866.OCTOBER 16. 1860." in two lines ahead of the rear sight. "32-CAL" is stamped on the top barrel flat just ahead of the receiver. "32 CAL" is stamped in script letters on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. The upper tang is roll-stamped "{ MODEL. 1873.}" in fancy letters with foliate devices at either end. The serial number, "153350/A" is stamped across the lower tang.

Condition:
Excellent. The rifle is all original and retains 85% plus of the factory blue and casehardened finish. The barrel has some light edge wear, minor finish loss at the muzzle and a small area of pitting on the right side. The loading gate, dust cover and receiver screws have at least 95% of the fire blue finish. The receiver, hammer and sides of the loading lever have vivid case colors. The case colors on the forearm cap, contact points of the lever and buttplate are slightly faded but remain at least 90% intact. The stock and forearm are excellent and retain at least 90% of the extra oil finish. Most of the finish wear is concentrated on the forearm. The checkering shows minor handling wear but remains very good. The few handling marks on the stock and forearm are insignificant. The markings on the barrel, receiver and cartridge elevator are crisp. This is an excellent example of a Deluxe Third Model Winchester 1873 rifle that displays the quality and craftsmanship that made Winchester rifles world famous.
