Studio prop rapier from movie “Elizabeth And Essex” starring Errol Flynn originally property of Western costume company and part of a large lot purchased by a well-known California dealer approximately a decade ago. This sword measures 36 ½” with 30” blade and remains in good condition with some rusting to the blade. These prop swords were supplied by Bannerman to Hollywood in its golden age and are now about 80 to 90 years old. Several of these similar rapiers have been represented to be the one used by Errol Flynn but in fact we cannot absolutely identify this one as the one used by Flynn but it was one made for this epic movie.
