Striking Navajo Burntwater Wool Rug c. 1960's
This is an excellent Navajo Native American Indian hand woven wool trading post rug in a scarce Burntwater pattern. The Burntwater (Burnt Water) was developed by Don Jacobs in the 1960’s with similar characteristics as the Two Grey Hills with more pastel colors. This example shows two stepped diamond medallions on a tan field. The medallions are done in a lilac, rose, mint and sage green, adobe brown and taupe. Dusty blue and cream accents are around the medallions, and the boarder is done in dove grey and rose. The rug has a very tight fine hand woven weave of all 100% wool with natural dyes and very good condition. The rug measures overall 20" x 30".
