Stocking Patent pepperbox pistol , patented 1848 with thumb-lever actuated automatic revolving mechanism. Shows original agent’s marking “S. Sotherland, Richmond, VA” early spangle type German silver inlaid grip. Brown patina finish, some light erosion and pinprick pitting. Small chips at edge, #6 on trigger. Just the type revolver that would have been purchased in the South shortly before the Civil War. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
